Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the Goods and Services Tax was a reform that would end harrassment of taxpayers and will result in a more transparent and simplified system. The implementation of the GST, he said, was crucial for the economic development of the country.
The cut-off for filing GSTR-1 returns for July was scheduled to end 5th September, which explained the heavy traffic at ‘www.gst.gov.in’. But the portal suffered technical glitches as it was unable to take the load.
